Taxi drivers who filed applications to display ads on their new taxis and join Cairo Cab Project Phase-1 will be allowed to do so if they have had bank clearance secured before the 15th of April and have been assigned chasis and engine numbers, Minister of Finance Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali said.
About 3,000 applicants who meet the above requirements have not turned in their old cars yet, the Minister pointed out.
Those cars will be part of a plan to use the new taxis to display ads, following a new bidding process, which should be completed within 4 to 5 weeks.
According to assistant finance minister Nabil Rashdan, the participating banks under the auspices of the Finance Ministry have prepared new tender specifications to invite bidders interested in advertising on the 23,000 cars processed in phase-1, in addition to the 3,000 recently approved ones. The price of the advertisement put on each of the 23,000 cars will be deducted from the monthly bank installments. The amount of the deduction will be based on the offer made the agency which will win the bid, may pay.
